Well, as y’all can see, I haven’t really done any mixes or done anything creatively in the past year (it’s been…challenging), I believe this annual tribute to Patrick Willoughby is the last (if not only) mix I did in 2022.

It’s July 5th and once again, it’s Patrick’s birthday. I planned to do a mix for him every year, but this year I was simply not ready. In addition to that, I realized that I was barely ready last year – I never put this mix up here on my official site (I only had it on Mixcloud). Soooo – I apologize for not having a mix ready for Patrick’s birthday this year

I guess the saving grace is that nobody really heard it last year, so it’s probably new to a lot of y’all, LOLOLOL.

As usual, Patrick’s tribute mixes are pretty much exclusively packed with the music that he helped curate for clubs like The Gallery, Paradise Garage, Continental Baths, and other infamous NY dives of the 70s and 80s.

In this mix, you’ll find artists such as MFSB, Inner Life, Ronnie Dyson, Love Commitee, and The Controllers. With edits from legends like John Morales (M+M), Joe Clausell, and Dimitri From Paris, the emphasis is on music you didn’t really hear in the mainstream. You had to be in certain places and communities…whether it was Paradise Garage, The Loft, or in your parent’s living room – you kinda had to be there.

Whoever your favorite NY DJ was back then, whether you realize it or not – they have undoubtedly crossed paths with Patrick. When they walked into a record store, Patrick was right there – guiding them to the next iconic hit. He was literally one of the ones that told your faves what was new and what to buy.

As Patrick would hurry up and tell you, “I’m in the business!”
