….aaaaaand we’re back! We apologize for not bringing you a mix last month – we truly appreciate you hanging in there with us! We had some drastic system configurations last month and now we’re ready for action! So let’s get down to business, shall we?
Our first feature track is “Praying For You (Album Mix)” from the looooooooooooooooong anticipated Jasper Street Co. album “Rejoicing“! Listen, if you’ve been out to the club in the last 4 months, you’ve been assaulted with this track only to rush home and not be able to find it ANYWHERE. Well, it’s finally here – and not a minute too soon, I was gettin’ ready to write Nervous a terse email demanding this track, LOLOL. No, I’m kidding, ut really – this track has been lighting up the clubs for months. If you like Soulful House done CORRECTLY, then look no further than this 11 track album! Featuring artists such as Kenny Bobien, Byron Stingily (that’s Principal Stingily to some of your kids, LOL), and Dawn Tallman, Teddy Douglas and DJ Spen show us why their pedigree is unimpeachable! But um, y’all think y’all slick tho – this album is cool n’ all that, but imma need them OTHER mixes of “Praying For You” – you know good n’ well what I’m talking about – Louie Vega been spinnin’ them shits for months @ Expansions – y’all holding out!!! Honestly, though look out for “You’re My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration” – a near PERFECT remake that will leave you in tears if it catches you on the right dancefloor and in the right mood. It is pure elevation. Oh! and “My Soul Is a Witness” – well, let’s just say if you enjoyed the “Track & Feel Events” EP that came out on Nervous a whopping 26 years ago (wow, right?), then you will LOOOOOVE this track! Trust me.
For our second feature – it’s not so much a track as it appears to be somewhat of a movement... seriously, can we talk about the sheer amount of work Kev Dot Kruz is putting in???? Always one to produce outside the box aesthetically, dude has been putting in WORK. He’s been quietly putting out a steady stream of Deep Tech, Afro Tech, Dark Tech, Techno, and other stuff you just have to hear – and he’s been releasing like 90% of it FREE on Soundcloud on his new “Afro Riddims” label!! Since those my folks, maybe I’m biased, but check it out for yourself! We try out his “Flower Underground” track (#16) in this mix.
Another dope producer, colleague, and all around awesome dude that really should be mentioned is none other than Harry Soto! Harry’s been making noise – and quite a bit of it, too! Another one not one to be constricted by genre, this time Harry brings us a deep techno vibe that will rattle your speakers! Check out “Techno Gods” (#17).
And we CERTAINLY can’t let y’all go without mentioning our closing track – “Work That Body” – the debut track from the globetrotting DJ Q featuring none other than THE House diva herself – Barbara Tucker! Most of you in Italy, Spain, England, and many other spots across the world know DJ Q as Barbara Tucker’s touring DJ – and now you get to hear a DIFFERENT side of DJ Q. Ladies, gennelmen, and other identified – we have a PROBLEM!! Expect more from this up and coming producer, but until then, check out “Work That Body” (with Georgie Porgie on the co-production!) (#18) and get into what you hear!
